Conil is a picturesque seaside village, located on the Costa de la Luz, in the Cadiz province of Spain in Andalusia. It is a typical Spanish fishing village, with white walls and narrow cobbled streets - a true 'Pueblo Blanco'.

There are around 18,000 people living in Conil de la Frontera, and although the village is relatively small it boasts an impressive 362 bars, restaurants and cafes, along with a stunning 16 kilometre stretch of coastline. This beautiful village is located 43 miles from Cadiz, and its extension is over 87 square kilometres. It is a very flat city, with the maximum height above sea level reaching only 41 metres.

During the last two decades, the role of fisheries, livestock and agriculture in the municipality has lost considerable weight in favour of tourism, and while this does not mean that the service sector is the main economic engine of the city, it has certainly given it a major boost. Conil de la Frontera is a town that has grown rapidly in recent years in this sector, something clear when you look at the number of bars, restaurants and cafes on offer.

The destination is a town steeped in history. Phoenicians, Arabs, Byzantines, Visigoths, Celts, Christians have all passed through the town throughout its history, all leaving their mark on the towns appearance. The town retains the Arab street network, with several churches which date back to beginning of the catholic reign. In 'Plaza de la Constitucion', stands the church of Santa Catalina, while you also have the Gothic Torre de Guzman, which formed part of the towns defences many years ago; two fine examples of the variety on offer.

Today the only invasion you'll find in Conil is that of the legion of foreigners who come to spend their holidays, enjoying its stunning beaches, the surf in Cabo Roche, its sunsets, its beach bars and nightlife, its hotels, its fine golden sand, its fried fish, and a host of further special features offered by this beautiful town on the Costa de la Luz.
